The Pungo Unit of the Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in the Inner Banks region of NC is a perfect place to observe wintering snow geese and tundra swans. During the late Autumn and Winter months, you'll see tens of thousands of snow geese take off at the same time around sunrise as they go off to forage for food. It is a sight to behold.
