Description
The Beesley's Point Bridge over Great Egg Harbor Bay, Cape May County, New Jersey, was built in 1927 by the Ocean City Automobile Club and completed in 1928, when it was acquired by the Beesley's Point Bridge Company. It was a toll road known for carrying U.S. 9 and the Garden State Parkway over the Great Egg Harbor Bay. The concrete piers on the underside are non-functional. Steel beams on wooden piers support the bascule approach spans, which are locked in the up position awaiting its removal. The Beesley's Point Generating Station, a coal power plant with a cooling tower, can be seen in the background.
